During our trip to Spain, we drove from the small town of La Fustera on the east side of the country to Sevilla, located in the south-west area of the country. Sevilla is just an hour and a half drive from the Portugal border and just a couple hours drive to the Strait of Gibraltar.

Sevilla is the capitol of both the province of Seville and the region of Andalucia (or Andalusia, as it is spelled in the English-speaking world.) Sevilla is often credited with being the birthplace of the traditional art-form of the Flamenco dance as we know it today. More specifically, the roots of the dance stem from the Gitano (gypsy, or Roma) influence that took place during the 300+ year-long war between the moors and the christians when they settled in the Andalusia region.
